For context, Boutli and colleagues’ 2003 randomized double-blind study followed 37 acne patients for 12 weeks. It compared a cream containing 2% salicylic acid plus 0.5% chloroxylenol with 5% benzoyl-peroxide gel; lesion counts improved in both groups without a significant between-group difference. The salicylic dose, additional drug and cream vehicle differ from this 0.5% toner. That study cannot supply this product’s success rate or justify using more toner. Sponsorship was not established from the abstract.
